What the Arabic?
- Allah = God
- Insha Allah = If God Wills
- Masha Allah = God has willed it
- Alhamdulillah = Praise be to God
- Allahu Akbar =God is Great
- Rasulullah = Messenger of God, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) which leads us to…
- (SAW) = short for sallalahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, meaning “On him are the blessings and peace of God”
- (PBUH) = Peace Be Upon Him, interchangeable with (SAW)
- Prophet Muhammad = the last and final messenger of Allah sent to humankind to proclaim the oneness of God after Prophet Jesus (Isa), Moses (Musa) and alllllllllll the other prophets of God, upon them all be peace.
- Muslimah = Muslim woman
- Astaghfirullah = God forgive me
- Ameen = Amen
- Salaam/Salaams = short for “Assalamu alaikum,” or “Upon you be peace.”
- Wa salaam/salaams = short for “Wa alaikum assalaam” or “And upon you be peace.”
- Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oon = To God we belong, and to Him we shall return
